  • The Counter Clockwise and The Clockwise Wedge instruments are used to produce indents into the facial and the lingual plastic for the rotational movement of a specific tooth. After determining the type of rotation desired, either The Counter Clockwise or The Clockwise Wedge instrument is selected for the tooth you wish to move. The direction of rotation is determined by an occlusal view of the tooth The appropriate Wedge indent into the aligner is created with a gentle squeeze of the instrument on the labial, near the line angle of the tooth, adjacent to the facial embrasure. Then the same instrument is positioned on the lingual surface at the opposite line angle to create the rotational couple.
By positioning the “plunger” portion of the Counter Clockwise or Clockwise Wedge instrument inside the aligner, an “outie” reservoir is created. This can be filled with composite and cured to create a wedge attachment on the tooth to enhance tooth movement in a subsequent series of aligners.
